Do Excessive Burping, Abdominal Distension And Low Appetite Indicate H.pylori Infection?

For 2 days, my friend has had nausea, excessive burping, passing lots of gas, and now has visible bulging in upper abdomen. Has been keeping food down, but very little intake. Discomfort now in stomach area. Refuses to go to ER to get this checked. Could this be H pylori? She has not have regular bowel movements, maybe once a week, which has been a normal thing all her life. Has not vomited, but is nauseated, and doesn t feel like eating. The visible bulge is approxiately the size of a kids football, and is painful to touch.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your friend and understood your concerns.
Distension of abdomen to the size of kid's football in upper abdomen, nausea, burping and lots of gas in your friend indicate that there is an intestinal obstruction unless proved otherwise.
Hence I would advise her the following in such a situation:
Take her to ER or at least a Family Physician for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations.
X-ray of abdomen in standing position,.
Ultrasonography.
Tests of blood, stool and urine.
All these will lead to an appropriate diagnosis for planning a proper management.
This can not be due to H pylori.
She may need surgery if there is no obstruction that does not respond to medical management for three days.
IF no acute obstruction but other causes like acidity related problems with or without intestinal infection she will need a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotics, activated charcoal tablet, PPI like Omeprazole and Domperidone to regularize the bowel movements.
