Dentist, Endodontics 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM
As per your query if its jst a gum inflammation like gingivitis or periodontitis it can be treated by scaling (cleaning) but if the swelling is due to a carious tooth that may be causing the abcess then the tooth ll also hav to be restored by endodontic procedure. but in both cases tooth need not to be removed.go to a dentist to find out what the exact problem is.in the meanwhile for pain and inflammation you can take a course of antibiotic and painkiller
Hope this ans helps.take care
