Do Normal Contraceptive Pills Prevent Pregnancy Post Unprotected Intercourse?

Hi! I just wanted to clarify, I had unprotected sex last Nov 1 and took an ecp (4 regular pills and another 4 12 hrs after - since Morning After Pills are not available in my country) on November 2 (6pm and 6am of Nov 3) and I had another deed on Nov 4 and took again the ecp. Will it still prevent me from getting pregnant? I’m so worried since this is my first time having sex unprotected :( Hope someone could help me.

Hello,

Firstly, every unprotected intercourse does not lead to conception. Ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next cycle and this is the fertile period when conception occurs. Secondly, emergency contraceptive pills provide very good protection when taken within the stipulated time interval. However, repeated use is to be avoided as it can cause hormonal imbalance.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
