Do Palpitations, Sweating, And Swelling Indicate Norvasc Or Renitec Side Effects?

Hi I was taking Norvasc 5 mg for my hypertension and all of sudden in the evening time I am getting palpitations my heart beat is fast and lot of sweating and swelling in left hand. I consulted local doctor and ECG is normal. So he changed my tablet to renetec 10 mg enalapril maleate. But I don t am I having severe headache and neck pain and cough. Kindly if I can with this medication or I need to change it. Thank you.

Hi,

As you are having headache, so kindly check if your blood pressure is under control with the dosage of medicine, you are taking. Dry cough is a common side effect with ACE inhibitors like Renetec. Hence you may stop this drug. As you are having episodes of palpitation, fast heart beat and sweating etc. Therefore in my opinion you are advised to take some beta blocker for control of your high BP as well as other symptoms. Hence, you are advised to take one of Atenolol, Metoprolol or Nebivolol under the guidance of your doctor.
