Do The Iron Infusion Affect The Baby During 38 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
Hi Doctor,
I needed to receive iron intramuscular for correction of anemia prior to CS and they notied that Avil and hydrocortisone can be given prophylactic for iron reactions, do they affect the baby? I m 38 weeks and CS is next day to iron infusion

Iron transfusion prior to Cs wont help to increase Hb in a week. It takes minimum of 3 weeks for Hemoglobin to rise.. If Hb less than 9, blood transfusion would be advised.. However this helps to rise Hb post delivery.. There is no harm to the fetus in transfusing iron. Avil and hydrocortisone is also fine. Hope I have answered your query.. Good day..
