Do those with asplenia have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes? I am a 70 year old female whose diet and exercise regimens are excellent [food sensitivities to gluten , dairy, eggs , clams, no sugar: lean protein and low carb vegies along with raw nuts , avocado , olives, and only olive oil] 50 minutes eliptical 6 days/week plus 3 days/wk weight training. Recent results: HA1c = 6.1 and Avg Glucose = 128 Hormone Ratio test results due tomorrow Splenectomy and division of superior border of pancreas due to trauma performed in 2003.

Diabetes occurs only when beta cells in pancreas are lost.
Occurrence of diabetes is not related with asplenia.
Although you have lost superior border of pancreas bur your HbA1c indicates that you are not suffering from diabetes.
You should follow your diet chart as menioned by you.
