Do Vocal Cords Get Damaged By Trashing Around With A Tube In The Throat?

My voice is hoarse ever since I had a endoscopy done which I woke up during the procedure and started to thrash around before being resedated, I had a colonoscopy done first and was told if they didn't find a problem that they would do s endoscopy. Its been 3 years and my voice is getting worse. My question is did I damage my vocal cords by thrashing around with the tube in my throat?

Hi,

The hoarseness of voice may be due to laryngitis or vocal nodules or laryngeal nerve palsy or polyps etc.

Voice overuse may cause hoarseness but it may recover soon. Also, get checked for acid reflux disease with the erosion of vocal cords.

Avoid spicy food, alcohol consumption, smoking and caffeine drinks. Use tablet Pantoprazole.

Please get indirect laryngoscopy done. Use tablet Amoxiclav.

If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
