Do We Need To Consider Other Options For Medical Care If 82 Yr Old Is Suffering From Fluctuating BP?

My 82 year old mother has a pacemaker and is residing in an assisted living facility that monitors her blood pressure 3 times per day. Moms blood pressure is fluctuating a lot during the day. Her primary doctor and heart doctor do not see a problem with this since she has no other symptoms. Mom is concerned about their response. She is active during the day. Is this something that should concern us? Do we need to consider other options for medical care?

Hi welcome to HCM.
I understand your query and concern.
Atrial fibrillaton is known to cause fluctuations in blood pressure. You are currently placed on right kind of drugs by your physician.
I advise you to have a 2 dimensional echocardiography,ECG and lipid profile to assess the basic cardiac activity of your heart.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6g/day.Regular physical exercise in the form of brisk walk for 20 min a day for 5 days a week is very much useful.Drugs like antihypertensives and antiarrhythmics will help.Reduce the intake of fatty and fried food.Fruits like pomegranate, apple daily will help.High fiber with high protein diet is important. Consult a Cardiologist for further expert management.Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
