Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Doctor's Attention Needed For Swollen Elbow And Forearm After Fall?
I tripped and fell forward catching myself before going down with my left hand. My elbow seemed to bow inward instead out outward. I had immediate pain on the inside of the elbow. Immediate weakness. Could not even lift a bottle of water without pain. It has been 3 days now and it is a lot better but still sore. The inside of the elbow is swollen as well as the forearm and some bruising on the underside of the forearm. Some strength has returned but nowhere near 100%. It gets a little better each day. Do I need to see a doctor or let it heal on its own. I do construction work and will be heavy lifting in the future. I am a 58 yr old male.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
It might be soft tissue injury or fracture. Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance. In the interim, apply ice packs to the affected area,anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting and rest well.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
