Does Amlodipine Besylate 2.5mg Cause Hair Loss?

About 3 months ago I was prescribed amlodipine besylate 2.5mg once daily. My hair started thinning within a couple weeks, mainly in the top of my head. My hair s now significantly thinner over my entire head and more so in the top. If amlodipine is discontinued by my physician will my hair return?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Amlodipine can rarely be associated with hair loss in some persons. It is one of the less common potential side effects that is not usually seen in the majority of persons who use this medication.

If the hair loss is due to the amlodipine then discontinuation should be able to help with hair growth.

You would need to discuss discontinuation with your doctor so that an alternative can be used.

I hope this helps
