Does Atorvastatin Cause Stomach Discomfort?

I have been taking Atorvastatin 29 mg for 4 months now on the recommendation of my doctor. I have suffered previous from extreme bloating and occasional stomach pain. An endoscopy showed an extremely irritated stomach lining. My question is: is my prescription causing this irritation to return which was caused by anti-inflammatory meds in the first place?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Atorvastatin is unlikely to cause this. PPIs like Lansoprazole can be advised. NSAIDs should be avoided.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
