Does Atorvastatin Have Any Adverse Effects On The Kidney And Liver?
Yes, thank you. I am a vibrant and active 68 year old woman. Most people guess me in mid-to late 50 s. I have been taking Atorvastatin 10 mg for about a year because my physician was concerned about my cholesterol. I had cholesterol over 300 for many years, but the good cholesterol has always been about twice the average ... causing my overall cholesterol to be high. I also take Sertraline 150 mg daily. I have no other health issues. I am aware that Atorvastatin can have negative affects on the Kidney and Liver. I would like to stop taking the medication. What is your opinion
Atorvastatin can cause liver damage in some people. In fact for the first few months then at least once a year you should check your liver tests and if they go up more than 4 times the normal they should be stopped. Atorvastatin may also cause muscle pains and cramps. On the other hand your cholesterol level is quite high. I suggest you see your doctor to take the blood liver tests and a CK (the last for muscle damage) if not done recently.
Kind Regards
