Does Augmentin Cause Skin Rash?

Hi I am taking Augmentin (9th day) and Benzonatate for Sinus infection, ear infection, sore throat and a cold. I have developed a rash (reddened area) today on both hands across my knuckles. I feel I need to stop the Augmentin. If not better in morning will go to MD

I totally understand your concerns about the rash.
the following points should be taken into consideration :

1- Symptoms of drug allergies may start quickly, within the first day or two after taking the drug. The reaction also can be delayed and not occur until 8 to 10 days after starting the drug.

2- A less common type of allergic reaction is called serum sickness. This can occur days or even a week after starting a medication.The symptoms of serum sickness include skin rashes, hives, fever and joint pain.

3- You should stop augmentin. An antihistamine may be recommended to decrease itching if present. Corticosteroid cream (such as hydrocortisone and others) may be prescribed.
