Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am now on my third dose of Cephalexin 500 mg capsules. I have so far taken 16 pills and have enough left to take twice a day until Sunday night. Monday night I went to the ER in unbelievable pain and after a CAT scan found out I have a few kidney stones. Never had any problem before. Is it possible that too much Cephalexin caused these.
No, Cephalexin does not kidney stones. The kidney stones would have been there already and co-incidentally you got an attack whilst taking the medicine. Kidney stones take time to build up in the kidneys. The best way to avoid stones is to drink plenty of fluids especially water.
Kind regards
