I my name is Sunshine, I recently started taking Chantex to help my quit smoking. I am having some symptoms and would like to know if it is a side effects from the medication. 1. I had a hysterectomy 20 plus years ago and I take hormone replacement but and now having really bad hot flashes. Is this from the Chantex? 2. I also am hungry all the time 3. I m also having heartburn
Dear Sunshine Ma'am, Hi & Welcome to HCM. Common side effects of Chantix (Varenicline) include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, constipation, dry mouth or unpleasant taste in mouth. The symptoms of hot flashes, heart burn and increased hunger could be due to some hormonal imbalance like thyroid problem. You are advised to consult a physician for a work up to rule out hyperthyroidism and to adjust the dose of HRT to control the symptoms following hysterectomy. Hope this will help.
