Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my sister is 15yrs old...she was sick for 4 days...a doctor advised clavam* 625...she took one tablet..after which her fever got worse...she suddenly lost all her body strength..we admitted her to a hospital..was there something wrong with clavam 625??
Clavum 625 is a trade name for the drug Amoxicillin (500mg). This is a common used antibiotic in the Penicillin family and has a very long safety track record. Typical reactions to this include diarrhea, skin rash and even a fever. The reaction of fever can be serious and can induce a very high temperature. I don't believe in fact that there was a problem with the antibiotics itself but rather your sister did have a known side effect to this medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
