Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Cortisone Medication Cause Heart Palpitations?
I had an injection alongside my spinal column on Dec. 31st, for chronic back pain. (A disk has narrowed, pressing on a nerve). Since then I have had a lot of heart palpitations upon any physical movement such as walking. It is very nerve-wracking and makes me nervous as I have had 4 heart attacks previously (diagnosed as Takasudo Syndrome). Is it the cortisone medication that is doing this?
The spinal epidural analgesia will not alter the heart rhythm, it is the underlying stress and anxiety of the procedure and outcome, which is responsible for palpitation.
Taking care of all vital parameters with detailed physician evaluation are mandatory for nice handling of the issue.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
