Does Diflucan Help Cure Urinary Infection?

I take antibiotics to prevent urinary infections as I am an MS patient who continually gets bladder infections with intercourse. Today I started on Diflucan (single dose). Can I expect that within 48 hours that the itching will subside? I also have a product on hand called FloraFemme Antimicrobial Homeopathic Vaginal Probiotic Suppository that is supposed to support vaginal & urinary health. Would it be wise to use this product at this time?

Hello,

I understand you have a question about a vaginal infection. You mention two different kinds of infections: one is a bladder infection, usually caused by bacteria, for which you would take antibiotics; the other is a fungal vaginal infection, which can cause itching, and the treatment is often a single dose of Diflucan.

For the fungal infection, your symptoms, including itching, should go away in a couple of days. I'm not familiar with the suppository you mention, but I believe it would be perfectly safe and reasonable to use it as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
