hello Dr. I was taking the antibiotic medicine called doxycycline 100 mg for ten days and right after I finished the medication I have been having stomach ace since then. Do you think it is the medicine s side effect.? If it is will it go away on its own? Thank you for your help
Yes, doxycycline can cause oesophagal irritation and pain in the stomach. mostly this would settle in sometimes. However, you should use some over the counter anti-acids for few days for relief.
If the pain is too much you may also use some acid suppression drugs like Omeprazole once for 14 days. Mostly this would help. Avoid spicy foods and painkiller. Ask your doctor if it does not help or if the pain persists.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
I'm sorry to hear you've been having some stomach pain after taking Doxycycline. Doxycycline can sometimes cause a stomach ache, so it is possible that your stomach ache is from that, though there are many other causes for a stomach ache as well. If it is from Doxycycline, it should go away on its own within a few days.
Hope I have answered your query.
