Does Duphaston Cause Weight Gain And Bloating In PCOS Patients?

hi, im pcos patient.doctor ask me to take duphaston 1 tablet for 5 days every month. i realized after taking duphaston my weight gain huge almost 5 kg and my upper stomach bloating. is it side effect of duphaston? if i stop taking it can i loose weight naturally? or i still need to continue it? i worried about huge weight gain. kindly advise.

Hi,

Though, nausea, vomiting, headache, dry mouth & bloating are very common side effects with Duphaston. However, these are mostly self limiting side effects, which go away, generally on its own within some time, without any specific treatment. About weight gain with this drug, there is generally a popular belief, that this drug may cause weight gain. However, this belief is not founded by any proved study and according to doctors, there is no relation of weight gain with this drug. If you are getting weight gain, you are advised to look for some other cause for this.
