Does Eltroxin Cause Fishy Smelling Vaginal Discharge?

Hi There, I have been prescribed Eltroxin to regulate my TH and have been on it for the past 3 weeks. Over the past couple of days, I have noticed that there is a fishy smell from my vaginal discharge. I ve never experienced this before and wondered if its related to the Eltroxin? Thanks.

Thank you for the question.
Eltroxin is a thyroid hormone replacement used in hypothyroidism. There is no evidence that eltroxin causes fishy smell from vaginal discharge. Eltroxin is quite a safe drug and used very commonly. The fishy smell from your vaginal discharge could actually be an infection and it would be better if you visit a gynaecologist who can examine and confirm the diagnosis. Usually to treat someone with fishy smell of vaginal discharge I prescribe Tinidazole 2 gm tablet. But as it is a prescription drug and there could be multiple reasons for your vaginal discharge smelling foul it is better to visit your gynaecologist.
