Hi,

Excedrin is an over-the-counter pain relief medication, typically used for the treatment of a headache. It contains Paracetamol (Acetaminophen), aspirin, and caffeine. Heartburn and upset stomach are the common side effects encountered with the intake of this medication. It is not known to affect biliary tract functions or bone mineralization, which can possibly elevate alkaline phosphatase enzyme level. The reference range for alkaline phosphatase is 44 to 147 IU/L.

Kindly get your bone mineral density checked along with taking an ultrasound scan of the abdomen to know what could be the cause for mild elevation of alkaline phosphatase.

You can consult Orthopedician or Physician accordingly with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu's  Response
Hello,

Dear Excedrin may cause elevated alkaline phosphatase levels.

It may be due to Acetaminophen-induced liver damage or but it may not cause cholestasis.

Obstructive jaundice or steroids intake may cause this problem.

Please mention the value how much it is elevated.

Please consult your physician he will examine and you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
