Does Flonase Allergy Cause Loss Of Appetite In An Elderly?
Hello Doctor: I m taking care of my mother who is 94 yrs. She is usually active and of good cheer with a good appetite but, about a month ago she stopped eating and can t get out of the bed except for the rest room. she has lost here weight alarmingly to me . the doctor said it was just a constipation problem and sent her home with over the counter laxative. she is normally in very good health and very active. I believe it s one of 2 things --the flonese aller clear combo that she started about 2 months ago to combat a persistant sometimes cough she has or an viral infection in her gut that I m sure sure could be cleared up with a round of cephalexin this a 40 billion probiotic. Oh that s right cephalexin is full spectrum but I don t know if if could handle viral. Perhaps crushed garlic. Thanks for letting me go on and on like that. I know my email doesn t work but i ll have to put in something to get this message to you. pleas excuse my grammatical errors. THANK YOU for the good you ve done in this lifetime. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If no obvious disease is there then no need to give any medicine not even the laxative instead of this encourage her for drinking water and vegetable diet, it is the geriatric symptoms must be having, else it is nothing to worry, watch for dehydration, I would advise for serum electrolyte study, else it may not be the viral infection or any illness she could be having, no need to try anything in absence of any illness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
