Does Green Light PVP Laser Vaporization Procedure Result In Incontinence?
I am 80 years old had TUNA procedure in 2003 and a second procedure in 2007. I am planning to have a Green Light PVP Laser Vaporization to cure my BPH. I am concerned about the procedure resulting in Incontinance and have to wear a diaper. Please advise me about possible side effects ? Would I be better off with PROSTIVA RF procedure ?
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist, i can understand your anxiety. You've already undergone two prostate surgeries.(TUNA). Surgical option is advised, only when your symptoms score (IPSS),is significant and medication's not very effective. Your doctor seems to have suggested TULVP(laser). If he's experienced, it's a very safe procedure ,widely practiced and incontinence is minimal. Surgery shouldn't be considered,if you've high risk for anesthesia. You may clear your doubts with me, sending them as a direct question. Dr.Matthew J. Mangat.
