Hi, Welcome to HCM First of all, are you sure that your sister is having HIV? There is a theoretical possibility that certain instruments like razor blades, tooth brushes and hand kerchief can transmit HIV from one person to another person if either one of them has got HIV, especially when they are contaminated with blood. These articles are known to get contaminated with blood quite often. But practically we have not come across such cases in our practice. It is not common to get, as the organisms are highly fragile and cannot live outside the body. Moreover the tooth brush becomes risky, only if the HIV positive individuals are having GUM disorders or bleeding gums and the children using the brush having any oral problem. DR S.Murugan
