Does Ibuprofen Cause Skin Sensitivity?

Couple months ago I took too much ibuprofen and had hives. Now, when I where something that comes in contact (or something that has little pressure) with my skin I get extremely severe hives! Could it be taking too much ibuprofen has done something to my blood to get hives like that?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ibuprofen doesn’t causes skin sensitivity. It can cause allergic reaction but it will subside once you stop taking Ibuprofen. The skin sensitivity may be due to some other causes. As a first line of management, you can take antihistamines like Pheniramine for symptomatic relief, if the problem persists, better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
