Does Klonopil Have Any Withdrawal Symptoms?

I am trying to get off Klonopin for 3 weeks. Withdrawals are very pronounced. My GP says there are no such thing as Klonopin withdrawals. He wants me on Tramodol. Been on Klonopin for 2 years 1 mg. before bedtime. Is he right on the withdrawal issue or am I crazy ???????

Klonopin is a potentially addictive drug and can result in withdrawal symptoms if it is stopped after being on it a long time. It should be gradually tapered down in dose and not abruptly withdrawn so that withdrawal symptoms are decreased or don't occur. You do not say what you are taking it for, or if your doctor is substituting tramadol for it. Tramadol is generally used for pain. Klonopin is generally used for anxiety, panic, seizures, and bipolar illness. Theoretically it could be used for muscle spasms that can cause pain, but that is the only reason I can think of where tramadol might substitute for it. Tramadol would not treat the other conditions I mentioned. Hope this answers your question.
