Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was walking up the steps and when I went to put pressure on my right foot--I felt a popping --snapping sensation in my right calf---then sudden pain and inability to put pressure on that leg--one week ago I finished the second round of levoquin with in one month period---does this medication cause any type of tendon or muscle issues
I am so sorry to hear about this. Yes, levaquin weakens tendons and can lead to tendon rupture. If these symptoms continue, please visit your doctor for evaluation and treatment/ Also, talk to your doctors about this so that they can be extra cautious when recommending antibiotics for you. The best person to evaluate the tendon issues would be an orthopedic surgeon. For now, avoid any stress on the leg, rest it and apply cold packs. If you are in pains, take Tylenol for relief.
I hope this helps. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
