Hi Dr. Koregal. For the past two months all my skin is very itchy and my blood feels like it is boiling. If you touch my had it feels hot like an electric blanket. I do an under active thyroid and are taking levoxothyrine. Can the itching be caused by too my thyroid medicine or could it be cancer?
Hi!! Itching on the body occurs in patients having both hyperactive and hypoactive thyroid gland. In your case since you are experiencing itching and heat it can be due to excess dose of levothyroxine leading to high level of thyroid hormones in the body. I would recommend you to get the hormones checked and consult your doctor to titrate the dose of levothyroxine if required.
