Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom (age 83) is being treated by wound specialist for slow- or no-healing wound, near left ankle, caused by radiation treatment on squamous cell carcinoma spot. Wound specialist has now recommended Medihoney (for debridement) and Lidocaine for pain control. My questions: • Does Lidocaine interfere or diminish in any way, the Medihoney s effectiveness? • What kind of dressing should be applied over the wound with the Medihoney in place? Dry? Wet? Hydrocolloid? Thank you!

Does Lidocaine Interact With Medihoney?
Hello, Medihoney impregnated dressing can be used and might be better than conventional dressing for the healing of the Chronic wound. Lidocaine can be used on any type of dressing to treat pain in a wound. Moist wound environment is achieved with hydrocolloids and aids in atraumatic removal of the dressing. Absorption of exudates by the hydrocolloid dressing leaves a yellowish-brown gelatinous mass after dressing removal that can be washed off. Wet dressing is better. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Tushar Kanti Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
