Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had started Lipitor and then started having bad heart burn. I stopped the Lipitor 2 nights ago and the symptoms have not gone away. I rarely have heartburn. It is a burning in my throat going down into my chest and there is pain when I swallow. That same swallow pain goes to my back.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The given symptom of burning sensation in throat, and heartburn is suggestive of esophagus reflux disease (Acid peptic disease ) hypersecretion of acid in gastric region can cause the symptoms, try to avoid spicy food, alcohol, smoking, heavy meal, condition can be well treated with PPI (Proton pump inhibitor ) like Omeprazole once in day.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
