Does Lovaza Cause Vomiting And Stomach Pain?

My son has been taking Lovaza and everytime he takes it he winds up throwing up, pain in his side and stomache and now the problem is with his teeth and he cannot eat. What is the cause of this. He also has a heart problem and kidney related problems - failure being one of them. Is this due to the Lovaza

Lovaza is a supplement that contains Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Excessive tiredness , Stomach pain , Indigestion, vomiting, are known side effects of this drug .

But these side effects will wear off with continued use of the drug . So I advise you to continue this medicines but if the side effects are severe he can stop the medicines and restart it in half the dose after 5-7 days .

If he is tolerating half dose then continue half dose for a month and then initiate full dose . But if he is not tolerating even the half dose then you need to consult your doctor and ask for an alternative.

I appreciate your concern for your son.
Lovaza contains esterified fish oil which is converted into Omega 3 fatty acids in the body. Some people are unable to tolerate it and throw up. Your son may be given Lovaza for treating high triglycerides. You could try some other brands of omega 3 fatty acids but make sure that they are certified to be mercury free.
If you could let me have more details regarding his heart and kidney diseases I could see if any other options are available.
