Does Metformin And Pill For BP Cause Fainting Spells And Nausea?

Hi, I had an incident this morning where I thought I was gonna faint or fall over. It happened twice when I was exercising. I have had this happen quit a while ago, but under different circumstances. I did not get a lot of sleep the night before and I am diabetic and take 1000 mg of methformin. I also have HBP and take a pill at night for that. Any ideas. Please advise. Thanks in advance. Tom

I read your query and I understand your concern.

Metformin could cause symptoms if blood sugar levels drop more then necessary causing hypoglycemia, however a blood glucose measurement would have been helpful to confirm that, if normal it shouldn't be the cause. If frequent dosage should be reconsidered.
Also BP pill could have a detrimental effect if blood pressure falls more then necessary, it could cause those symptoms. If blood pressure measurements show it to be very low, that could explain the symptoms and if it happens frequently treatment should be reconsidered.
Another possible cause to be considered especially in diabetics is development of a condition called orthostatic hypotension, which is related to the inability of the regulatory mechanism to adapt blood pressure when changing position causing a drop of blood pressure of over 20 mmHg when one changes from supine to standing position.
Losing water and electrolytes when exercising can play its role as well so make sure to be well hydrated.

I hope to have been of help.
