Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking altace, zebeta, plavix, metformin, lipitor, onglyza, and bisoprolol fumarate for a stent in 2005 and the discovery of diabetes 2 at the same time. I have taken these meds for that period of time and visit my cardiologist and family physician every six months. I am considering urinozinc prostate otc--would you advise this or wait til I see my doctor next month?
Hi & Welcome to HCM. Yes, Bisoprolol can interact with Metformin.
Beta-blockers such as Bisoprolol may increase the risk, severity, &/or duration of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in patients receiving Metformin and certain other anti-diabetic medications. In addition, Bisoprololol may mask some of the symptoms of hypoglycemia such as tremor, palpitation and rapid heartbeat, making it more difficult to recognize an oncoming episode. You may need to monitor your blood glucose levels more frequently, especially if you are prone to developing hypoglycemia. Urinozinc Prostate Formula (OTC) is a natural supplement for men claimed to be useful in supporting normal urinary flow & frequency in men with enlarged prostate, however there is no scientific study which proves it to be effective in the treatment of urinary symptoms associated with enlarged prostate. Hope I could answered your query. Best wishes.
