Does Metoprolol Medication Causes Weight Gain, weak Muscles Heart Palpitations?

I have gained 50 pounds, having heart palpations, shortness of breath, weak muscles and swelling of ankles, legs, face, etc. I believe this to be associated with Metoprolol. Do you agree and can I stop it cold turkey and take magnesium over the counter to help?

Hello,

Thank you for asking your query in HCM.
Your symptoms are not due to the side effect of Metoprolol. It is probably due to a heart condition interfering with the pumping action of heart or a condition which leads to fluid retention in the body.
If I were you, I would see a specialist in Internal Medicine and he would be able to make the correct diagnosis after the required tests.
OTC magnesium will not help you with this problem. You should not discontinue metoprolol without your doctor's consent.
Take Care
