Does Mirena Cause Flu Like Symptoms With Abdominal Pain?
I have been reading up on symptoms of the Mirena IUD. For the past 2 days I have experienced chill, fever, and body aches (in addition to swelling of the gums and lymph nodes). These flu-like symptoms started after an unusual episode of abdominal pain (mostly dull) and lower left side abdominal tenderness (to touch). I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow but I would like to be prepared for the possibilities of this cause. I have seen that this problem isnt uncommon. Is uterine wall perforation the most likely cause of this pain (if it is in fact related to the IUD) or just a nasty side effect? I have a history of pain with intercourse and a tentative diagnosis of endometriosis
Abdominal pain does not necessarily mean perforation. Sometimes the IUD itself can cause such pain. However, ruling out possible perforation with an ultrasound scan is important.
