Does Mucinex DM Cause Shivers In My Children?
At 9:30pm I gave my 8 year old, 60 pound son a half tablet of Mucinex DM (600mg Guaifenesin & 30mg Dextromethorphan HBr). I broke the pill in half & later realized this is an extended release bi-layer tablet. He woke up at 4:30am with his body trembling. Is this a side effect or something unrelated? Does he need medical attention?

At 8 years of age usually 1/3 of adult dose is given Your son has been given a bit of over dose & needs observation as the medicine is sustained relese
Restlessness, anxiety is known to cause after Dextromethorphan medication. The trembles you son May be out of that.
- Let him take rest, nourishing diet,plenty of water.
-Please consult doctor in case he has hallucinations/confusion Or respiratory problems as shallow or slow breathing.
