Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Although omeprazole may decrease the bone density and may predispose to various types of fractures, these side effects are not very likely to occur. Fractures occur in less than 1% of the patients taking this drug. It is not supposed to be a serious problem for patients with osteoporosis. Despite that yearly monitoring of the bone density is advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
