Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Paroxetine Cause Numbness In Chest With Irregular Heartbeat?
My dad had just started taking Paroxetine 20mg about a week ago tops. First time taking too. He takes it once around 2 or 3 a.m before starting work. He says when he yawns and breaths. He feels his heart beating inward towards his back and his whole chest will go numb. But never has he ever had any chest pains or any pressure in the chest. Is this a side affect of the med. that he should go to the hospital. Or is it a side affect of his body getting use to the med. My dad wont let me take him nor schedule an appointment with his doctor. Very stubborn old man. He is 57 now. What should I do
I am so sorry to hear about this. If this was noticed after he started the medication, then it is most likely related to it. This medication can cause accelerated and forceful heartbeats. If this should continue, please take him in for evaluation and management.
I hope this helps. I wish your dad well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
