Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello DOC.. so, I have been taking Percocet 30 for 3 weeks now, do to a back injury that happen on my job.. I always break the pill in half because its way to strong for me to take a whole one, for exsample, in the morning I would take one half then before bed take the other half.. well, another job has contacted me for a job interview and to take a urine test, which is in 4 days actually 5 days but the 5th day is in the morning.. do you think It will show up in my urine? I really want this new job.. will I pass?
Most urine tests check for opiate drugs, which is the kind of medicine Percocet is.
Typically urine tests can detect opiates for 2-4 days after the last use, so if you were to stop now you might test negative, but otherwise it would most likely be positive.
However, if you have a prescription for Percocet, hopefully, you would be able to explain to your employer that there is a good reason your urine test is positive.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
