Does Progesterone Cause A Groggy Feeling In The Morning?

Iam post menopause for two years now. I go through cycles of not sleeping which lasts for about 2 weeks. I recently tried a progesterone yam cream from health food store and did sleep , but woke up very groggy and did not like the feeling. This was only after first two doses. Is this a common side effect? YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

The groggy feeling about which you complain is not a side effect of progesterone cream until you are allergic to it. Application of estrogen cream works well in menopausal women as it relieves of the vaginal dryness, mood swings, itching, burning sensation during intercourse.

Oral progesterone intake is effective if you are having sleep disturbance, hot flushes, night sweats & discomfort. It also assists new bone formation. Visit your gynecologist, get examined & if required take the Oral micronized progesterone therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
