My 6 year old son has ADHD and delayed speech. He does not hav efits or seizures but at times gets very angry and upset. We have recently started medication and he has been prescribed RESTONONN tablet and VALPORIN syrup. Are these standard medicine for ADHD and are they safe?Since having the medicines as mentioned above, he has become very quiet, lethargic and drowsy. He seems to have lost his appetite.Regards,Udayan

Please provide information about what dosage your son is taking.
Valproate if given in high dosage can cause rise in serum ammonia and that can lead to drowsiness in few patients, more if there is some underlying liver problem. I advice you to get serum valproate level and serum ammonia level to be done.
