Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 92 y/o mom was just Dx with degenerative dementia. She was given 25mg od Seroquel at bedtime in the hospital to help her sleep. She is home on hospice since Sat 2/18 and experiencing bouts of severe agitation (spitting, cursing...awful. Not her at all). The Psychchiatrist told me I can give her more seoquel during the day if needed. I am giving her 25mg in the am now as well as her pm dose. She also has dysphagia, and I am noticing excessive drooling. Am I giving her too much Seroquel. She weighs 90 lbs. Thank you YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Drooling and dysphagia may be a consequences of her degenerative disease , dysphagia may be serious , so I would advise you should discuss these problems with your doc , probably its not because of dose of the drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
