My husband had some symptoms of mabe a T.I.A. Had every right testing done.. The dr. That checked out his cat scan of the brain said everything looked normal.. I asked if there was any shrinkage.. He said no... My husbands behavior is a concern to me and his children...no focus.. No memory... Best memory of 1950 s and 60 s. The dr. Said they can t see the very small vessels in the cat scan?? My question is...how do you know if those vessels have an issue.. Is it those tiny ones that cause the T.A.I. s? Thank you.
Hi welcome to HCM. Your husband seem to have lacunar infarcts or what is called Small vessel strokes. They can result in TIA if symptomatic duration is less than 24 hrs. Yes indeed they are associated with longterm memory disturbances, particularly the retrograde memories.Drugs like antiplatelets can help. Thank you
