Hi. I had some dental work done three-weeks ago. I had a bridge placed on my bottom left side. I do have TMD, which was dx when I was 23. I am now 40-something (lol). However, since my dental visit I have had temporal pain/cramping sensations and pain in front of my ear. I know that the pain around the ear is from TMJ, but this sensation in the temporal region is a new type. Can TMD also cause pain in this area?
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The pain near the ear can be because of the disc displacement in the TMJ. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it diagnosed. We have to rule out the causes like, malocclusion, bruxism, stressful life. You need to get an MRI done to confirm the diagnosis. Mean while you can take tablet piroxixam and give hot fomentation over the joint. Once the cause is found out, then we can treat accordingly. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
