Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi!! I am 28 year old female. I am taking Thyronorm 25mg since my thyroid levels were tested to be high earlier. last week I tested again and found TSH to be 3.7. I have been taking the medicine since past three months. I have noticed that the number of days of my periods has come down from six to four days and the flow has also reduced ( I mean the duration of heavy flow). I am unmarried and not sexually active since past one year. Can you tell my whether the thyroid medicine is causing the problem with periods?

Does Thyronorm Affect Menstruation?
Hi, welcome to ask a doctor service. I have read your question and here is my advice. Yes, you are very right. Thyroxine can reduce the menstrual flow; in contrast low thyroxine in the blood can cause heavy and frequent menstruation. I hope I have answered your question, I will be happy to answer anything else you want to ask.
