Hi,

Yes, Tramadol causes drowsiness. It has a lot of effects:

Constipation, spasticity, nausea, drowsiness and others. The main reason for this is that it is an opioid analgesic which acts on the brain and decreases the activity of pain-causing nerves and agents.

This depressing activity can cause drowsiness and sleepy feelings. In order to avoid its effects it is better to take this medication before sleep or in evenings.

Moreover, to reduce the effects it can be taken first in small dosage then added gradually. However, at the same time, this drug never causes stomach h ulceration like other painkillers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
