Does Valprin 300 Help With Epileptic Fits?

my son is just 18 years he is leaving to england for hire studies engineering sudnlu first time feel like eplispy fit after check eeg doctor ask to take valparin 300 for one year.please advice me to it is ok.can he recover compleatly.I am frrom Sri Lanka

I read your query and I understand your concern.

I wish you had described the episode that you think is a fit, at times it might be something else. Also if he's had only the one seizure doesn't necessarily mean he will develop epilepsy at times it may be related to other factors like transitory metabolic changes.
However in the absence of other data I will accept the other doctors opinion since he must have found epileptic changes on EEG. I would also recommend a brain imaging study, preferrably MRI.
As fo treatment Valparin is one of the most widely used and effective drugs in the prevention of seizures so I agree with the choice of the drug. Dosage can vary usually they start at 900 mg a day (3 tablets of 300mg daily).
