Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
3 months ago, my husband was diagnosed with MRSA and admitted into the hospital for IV treatment of Vancomycin. He was on IV Vancomycin for 4 days. He was successfully treated and released. We ve been trying for 4 months to have our 2nd baby but unfortunatley, no success. Can the vancomycin treatment affect his sperm count?
Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
There are no studies to prove that Vancomycin causes low sperm count.Probably vancomycin had no effect on your husband`s sperm count.
I advise you to get his semen analysis test and also your complete gynecological evaluation to know any underlying cause or disease.
Take care
Hello
Thanks for your query.
Any antibiotic or drug can temporarily effect sperm count. Your husband took vancomycin three months back. Generally such side effects disappear after 3-6 months .So get his semen analysis done to confirm your observation.
