Our daughter has been diagnosed with vitiligo in Aug 2017. This occurred after she was in a car crash in Feb 2017 with at TBI brain bleed. No broken bones actually finished and graduated high school with a 4.0. It was quite a struggle but she tried to resume a life as normal as possible. She worked a job that summer and kept regular visits to the pediatrician. Although headaches and dizziness the pediatrician saw no need for a follow up for the TBI. She was tested at University of TN in Feb 2018 for memory issues as she struggled in school to learn...formally all A now A, B ,C grades...and failing Biology tests. Causing more anxiety and some panic attacks... pediatrician gave Zoloft with gradual increasing of dose and encouraged counseling. She refused counseling and had an assist dog in college. The college experience was very stressful and the UT testing diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and minor memory loss from the TBI. Zoloft actually lessened her memory and her grades fell. She went off it herself before exams and her grades improved. She has not taken it since April 2018.... She is beginning counseling this July...she resisted during her freshman year due to time constraints and fears, but is ready now. Anxiety was present before the accident but she resisted help. She, today, she went to a DR for a well check. She has noticed leg and arm bruising so I asked for blood work...thyroid I wondered?....and now has low blood platelets...9,000...first test was today...retesting on Tuesday. Not a good diet but if she ate well before the next test could this improve the results. What foods and supplements would you suggest? We have been to 2 dermatologists for the vitiligo but she does not regularly use the topical steroid cream or supplements I purchased . The vitiligo adds more stress to an 18 year old young woman. She is Caucasian but it is still a huge concern for her. She noticed this last summer. She is on birth control. No illegal drug use. No known abuse of alcohol. I noticed Zoloft can cause blood platelet issues on a web site. Not sure if this is true. Any suggestions? MOM
